EFISC-GTP Certification for Feed Ingredient Supply Chains
Demonstrate that the collection, storage, transshipment, production, trading and transportation of your feed ingredients are managed in accordance with recognised European feed safety requirements.

EFISC-GTP certification helps organisations control feed safety risks, maintain traceability and meet the expectations of customers and certified supply-chain partners.
What Is EFISC-GTP?
EFISC-GTP is a European management system for the safety of feed and food ingredients, designed for organizations operating at all stages of the supply chain—from production to trade.

The scheme covers two areas of activity:
Category D — production of safe feed ingredients;
Categories F&G — collection, transport, storage, and trade of safe feed and food ingredients.
Sector-specific reference documents are an integral part of the system. They describe specific products, risks, processes, as well as risk assessment and control measures. These documents have been developed by leading European industry associations in cooperation with the EFISC-GTP Technical Committee.

Every scheme participant must fall within the scope of the relevant sector document:
COCERAL — for all applicants involved in the collection, transport, storage, and trade of safe feed and food ingredients, regardless of the type of product, including oilseeds, sugar-industry products, and other product categories;
FEDIOL — for producers of safe feed materials obtained from oilseed processing and vegetable oil refining;
Starch Europe — for producers of safe feed materials obtained from starch processing;
EBB — for producers of safe feed ingredients obtained from biodiesel production;
EUROMALT — for producers of safe malt-based feed ingredients.

Participation in the scheme is voluntary and demonstrates to partners and clients that the organization’s management system and operational control measures comply with EFISC-GTP requirements.

From collection and storage to production, trading, and transportation — EFISC-GTP certification ensures the safety of feed ingredients at every step.

Step 1 of 5
The EFISC-GTP Certification Process
The certification process is planned according to your organisation's activities, locations, product groups, operational complexity, and the specific certification scope(s) applied for.
  • APPLICATION AND SCOPE REVIEW
    The organisation submits information about its activities, sites, products, processes and requested certification scope. GIC reviews the application to determine the applicable EFISC-GTP requirements, certification scope and audit programme.
    1
  • CERTIFICATION PROPOSAL
    Based on the application review, GIC determines the applicable audit duration, auditor competence and certification arrangements. A certification proposal is then prepared. Once accepted, the certification agreement is signed and the audit is scheduled.
    2
  • AUDIT PLANNING
    The audit programme and dates are confirmed. The organisation ensures that its feed safety management system has been fully implemented and is ready for assessment in accordance with the applicable EFISC-GTP requirements.
    3
  • INITIAL CERTIFICATION AUDIT
    The auditor evaluates the implementation and effectiveness of the feed safety management system and verifies compliance with the applicable EFISC-GTP requirements, including operational controls and supporting processes.
    4
  • TECHNICAL REVIEW AND CERTIFICATION DECISION
    Any identified nonconformities shall be corrected within the agreed timeframe. Following an independent technical review of the audit results and evidence of corrective actions, GIC makes the certification decision. If all applicable requirements are fulfilled, the certificate is issued.
    5
  • CERTIFICATION MAINTENANCE
    Certification is maintained through annual surveillance audits conducted every 12 months. Where applicable, an unannounced audit will also be conducted during the three-year certification cycle.
